Sealing creates a protective barrier that repels moisture and stains, keeping your grout clean and intact for years. Think of it like paint on wood — without it, the material degrades much faster. The Exception: Epoxy Grout
Epoxy grout (found in some newer construction and commercial spaces) is non-porous and does not require sealing. However, 95% of residential grout is cement-based (sanded or unsanded), which is highly porous and absolutely needs sealing.
